Supporting our communities
BMJ Group champions a sustainable future, supporting communities and protecting the planet.
Empowering social mobility
At BMJ Group, we want to support our communities. We do that through projects like our new work experience programme and our charitable giving to the Euston food bank.
We also partner with the National Council for the Training of Journalists Diversity Fund to provide bursaries to students who need help funding their journalism training.
Climate action
As a founding member of the UK Health Alliance on Climate Change, we campaign for wider change within our industry and beyond.
We have an ambitious Net Zero goal to achieve carbon neutrality throughout our operations by 2040. This goal guides our internal initiatives and extends to all suppliers we partner with.
We evaluate our environmental footprint and improve the sustainability of what we do – taking action where necessary across all our operations, from paper sourcing and event planning to our digital footprint.
UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
At BMJ Group, we focus our efforts on supporting the UN’s sustainable development goals, in particular SDGs 1, 3, 8, and 13, aligning our business impact with tackling poverty, improving wellbeing, spreading the benefits of economic growth, and taking climate action.
We are UNSDG publisher compact signatories and active members of the STM and ALPSP special interest group on SDGs.
Our sustainability group leads in promoting actions that contribute to the UN Goals, such as providing our online journals free to healthcare professionals in low-income countries via Research4Life.
