For journalists

BMJ Group’s press office provides registered journalists only with full access to embargoed press releases. We distribute our press releases via the media database Cision.
  • If you would like to be included on our distribution lists, please email ukdata@cision.com with your details. Please copy in mediarelations@bmj.com.
  • Full access to BMJ Group’s journal collection (including The BMJ) is also free for journalists. To register for free access, please email mediarelations@bmj.com with your details, so that we can process your request. Please note that access is granted for one year, after which you need to contact support@bmj.com if you wish to renew.
  • Permission to publish text and/or illustrative content from any BMJ Group title can be obtained from bmj.permissions@bmj.com

For external parties

We only include journalists on our press release lists. Lobby / consumer / charity / campaign groups are all excluded to preserve editorial independence and so as not to favour any particular organisation or group.

If you are asked by a journalist to comment on an embargoed article, please ask them to send it directly to you.

We don’t include URL links to external sites or publications unless they are integral to the text of an article or part of the references.
We don’t accept marketing-related ‘guest’ blog posts on any of our journal websites. Ideas for blog posts that appeal to our international readership of doctors and other health professionals should be submitted for consideration to the relevant journal. Contact information can be found on that journal’s homepage.
