Man admits impersonating medical student to gain access to hospital
A man who pretended to be a medical student to gain access to a hospital for several weeks has admitted to fraud and theft charges.Stephen Simpson, 22, wore medical scrubs and NHS branded clothing at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Scotland. He also had a stethoscope and pager.Simpson had faced a total of six charges of fraud and theft. At Aberdeen Sheriff Court on 1 October he pleaded guilty to two amended charges. These were that he had stolen a number of items of NHS branded clothing, a bottle of perfume, and a pager from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary between 22 and 27 December 2023.Simpson also admitted that between 4 December 2023 and 26 January 2024 he had pretended to be a medical student authorised to be in the hospital, worn medical scrubs and NHS branded clothing, and carried a stethoscope and pager to gain access to restricted areas and files by…
