Since joining BMJ Group in 2020 during the pandemic, Ian has led a sweeping digital transformation, strengthening the organisation’s infrastructure, accelerating its adoption of cloud-based platforms, and embedding AI and automation to improve delivery. Ian has a long track record of driving innovation in research technology. At SAGE Publishing, he founded SAGE Ocean, an incubator advancing new methods for social science research using big data. Earlier roles include Head of Technology at eLife Sciences, Head of Product at Mendeley, and Product Manager at Nature Publishing Group. He has also consistently advocated for open science, serving on the board of Dryad and the editorial board of the Journal of Open Research Software.
A recognised thought leader on digital transformation and AI in publishing, Ian has spoken at The London Book Fair, ALPSP, STM Week, and the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (STM), as well as in podcasts and webinars on the future of open research, data, and AI adoption.

Professor Yu-Chuan Jack Li is a researcher of artificial intelligence in medicine and medical informatics, and a practising dermatologist. He is currently Dean and distinguished professor at the College of Medical Science and Technology, Taipei Medical University and the Chief of Dermatology at the Centre for Cosmetic and Laser, Paipei Municipal Wanfang Hospital. Professor Li has also served as President of the Asia-Pacific Association for Medical Informatics (APAMI), and President-elect of International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA).

Professor Caroline Finch AO is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Edith Cowan University. She is one of Australia’s leading injury epidemiologists, particularly known internationally for her public-health-focused injury prevention research. Her influential research has informed the development of injury surveillance and data systems, the implementation and evaluation of preventive measures, and the dissemination of safety advice and guidance. Her research outcomes have directly informed safety policy for Government Departments of Sport and Health, health promotion/injury prevention agencies, and sports bodies worldwide. In 2015, she was awarded the International Distinguished Career Award from the American Public Health Association’s Injury Control and Emergency Health Services Section. In 2018, she became an Officer of the Order of Australia for ‘distinguished service to sports medicine’.
